Photorejuvenation by Lumecca
What is Lumecca
Lumecca is a highly effective laser technology based on intense pulsed light (IPL), which helps to remove pigmentation spots and even out skin tone and texture. This treatment is one of the most effective ways to lighten pigmentation and restore a radiant, even complexion after just one session.
This innovative technology is suitable for both fair and dark skin types and can address a wide range of concerns — from wrinkles and pigmentation to sun damage.
Indications for Lumecca
- photoageing of the skin;
- pigment spots and age-related pigmentation (red and brown spots);
- hyperpigmentation and uneven skin tone;
- skin darkening following sun exposure;
- vascular lesions (rosacea, spider veins);
- poikiloderma (mottled skin, areas of hyper- and depigmentation);
- rosacea (persistent redness);
- freckles;
- consequences of sun damage.
Lumecca can be used on any part of the body. The treatment is most commonly carried out on areas where the skin is regularly exposed to the sun and prone to the development of pigmentation spots: on the face, neck, décolletage, arms and hands.
Contraindications for Lumecca
- taking photosensitising medication;
- taking blood-thinning medication;
- recent sunbathing or use of a sunbed;
- pregnancy and breastfeeding;
- a tendency towards changes in pigmentation or scarring;
- moles or tattoos in the treatment area.
What to do before the procedure
Avoid prolonged exposure to the sun and tanning one month before treatment.
What to expect during and after the Lumecca procedure
During the session, the Lumecca light pulse feels like gentle pressure and looks like a bright flash. After the procedure, you may experience slight redness and a sensation of warmth on the skin — this is a normal reaction that usually subsides within an hour.
Over the next 24–48 hours, the skin around the pigmented spots may temporarily darken. This is part of the natural process by which the pigmentation gradually lightens. Within a week, the darkened areas will peel away, leaving a more even and clear skin tone.
Vascular lesions fade and become less noticeable within a few days of the treatment.
How many treatments are needed to remove pigmented spots?
The first changes may be noticeable after just one treatment; however, a course of treatments is usually required for more pronounced and lasting skin lightening. The number of sessions depends on the degree of pigmentation, skin type and the nature of the problem – whether vascular or pigmentary.
As a rule, 3–6 treatments are carried out at intervals of 3–4 weeks.
When will the results be visible?
If the aim is to lighten the skin following sun damage, the first changes may be visible after just a few days, with a pronounced effect appearing after 1–2 weeks. A course of several treatments helps to consolidate the results and achieve more pronounced skin lightening in problem areas.
When treating vascular conditions such as rosacea and couperose, a noticeable effect usually appears after about 2 weeks.
Side effects
Most patients do not experience any significant side effects. Mild redness and temporary darkening of the skin usually subside within a few hours or days. In some cases, temporary increased sensitivity of the skin to the sun may occur.
